Cosmo.Lab

A tool for Stereographic Visualization and analysis of Astrophysical Data
Starting date:
01/09/2001
End date:
31/08/2003

The project will provide a tool of visualization and analysis of astrophysical data coming both from observation and computer simualtions, based on the AstroMD. The aim is to build a software which can handle efficiently large datasets allowing both their graphical representation and analysis, responding to the requirements proposed by several research fields.

General notes:

Cosmo.Lab aim is to build a software which can handle efficently large datasets allowing both their graphical representation and analysis, responding to the requirements proposed by several research fields.
It will focus on:
- data coming from cosmological simulations
- data coming from observational catalogues (VIRMOS)
- observational data of extragalactic radio sources.
The project has also an educational goal, based on the 3D capabilities of AstroMD. This feature will be ex-ploited on different platforms, from the very sophisticated virtual theatre, down to the personal workstation.
