EuroHPC ecosystem: Vega supercomputer

We kindly invite you to the start-up ceremony for the Vega - the largest supercomputer in Slovenia and the first installed EuroHPC supercomputer. Slovenia is part of the Leonardo consortium, consisting of Italy and to which Austria, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia have joined. Vega is a 1-billion EUR project that placed Slovenia on the map of the European supercomputing ecosystem. The Vega project is an investment of 17.2 million EUR. It is co-funded by the European Union form the European Regional Development Fund, Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. The Vega supercomputer will enable Slovene and European scientists to cooperate in large international research projects and additionally accelerate the development of science and economy. It is an extremely important investment for Eastern Slovenia, the entire country of Slovenia, and Europe as well.
The ceremony will take place on 20 April at 15:30 in the Institute of Information Science, Maribor (IZUM), where the supercomputer Vega is installed.

The computing power of Vega is part of the EuroHPC ecosystem, composed by petascale and pre-exascale supercomputers financed by EuroHPC JU. The aim of the JU is to support research and innovation activities: developing and maintaining an innovative European supercomputing ecosystem, stimulating a technology supply industry (from low-power processors to software and middleware, and their integration into supercomputing systems), and making supercomputing resources in many application areas available to a large number of public and private users, including small and medium-sized enterprises.

The petascale supercomputers of the EuroHPC ecosystem will be built in the following supercomputing centres:

The pre-exascale supercomputers will be located at the following supercomputing centres:
