Dear Users,
we have a couple updates about MARCONI:
– we know that there are some issues with the latest version of Intel compiler, 16 update 3, and some of the applications and libraries compiled with such suite on MARCONI. While we wait for an update of Intel, scheduled for the end of 2016, we installed and made available to the users the module of Intel 2015, which is a downgrade but should be more stable than the current version for the behaviour experimented in this period. Intelmpi 5.0.3, built upon Intel 15 compilers, has been installed ad well. To load the relative modules:module load intel/pe-xe-2015–binarymodule load intelmpi/5.0.3–binaryWe are expecting the new  version of Intel 2016 in order to recompile the affected applications and libraries, but we can provide you support in building and installing any application on your local space with the 2015 Compiler Suite. Please refer to superc@cineca.it for any necessity of assistance.
– starting from Thursday, September 1st, accounting on MARCONI will be activated. Any job submitted on the system will be billed of its consumption in terms of computing hours, and the time of its execution will be subtracted from the budget accorded to your project. The monthly linearization system will be also activated: any account has a monthly quota (total budget/months of account duration) and its jobs will be scheduled at high priority. As long as the monthly budget is consumed, the priority of the following jobs will decrease until it reaches its low after it is all depleted. Keep in mind that having consumed all of the monthly quota doesn’t mean that the job won’t ever run: it just means that it will take more time to start since its priority will be lowered. At the beginning of each month the situation is reset and the monthly quota is fully replenished. With the command “saldo -b” you can keep track of the situation of your account, in terms of total budget and monthly budget.
