The Emilia-Romagna Region’s institutional mission to Japan will be held from 11 to 18 November, attended by Cineca president Francesco Ubertini.

Led by the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and the councillors for Economic Development and Agriculture, the delegation is made up of institutional representatives from universities, research centres, companies, consortia of typical products, and trade associations.

Objectives

The objectives of the visit are to strengthen existing ties and open up new opportunities and relations in one of the world’s leading economies, on topics such as technology and research, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, aerospace, robotics, and innovation in agriculture, as well as to promote products of excellence, typicality, and the identity of the territory on the occasion of the opening of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.

The meetings will be held in Tokyo, Ibaraki and Osaka in different institutional contexts, such as the United Nations University, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the University of Tsukuba, and the Riken Center for Computational Science, on the occasion of the launch of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, while the journey towards the appointment of Expo 2025 in Osaka begins.

The delegation

In the delegation are the region’s universities, the Mech, Agrifood, Health, and Greentech clusters, business associations, research centres, and training institutions in the fields of mechanics, health, agrifood, energy, and environmental sustainability. Also taking part are the research centres Cineca and Ifab – with president Francesco Ubertini, some of the region’s main health authorities, as well as numerous companies and trade associations.
