- GreenShift: A New European...
GreenShift is a new European programme that aims to transform research and innovation in the mobility sector by integrating Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing into a market-led Master’s degree for Green Digital Innovation in Transport. With 18 partners across nine countries, the project will equip over 1,500 professionals, graduates, and industry practitioners with advanced digital skills to accelerate Europe’s transition toward low-emission, intelligent mobility systems.
The GreenShift project is coordinated by the National College of Ireland (NCI) and involves 18 partners from nine European countries, including universities, HPC centres, industry, and digital-skills organisations. Key partners include University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Università di Pisa, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, HLRS Stuttgart, CINECA, Hrvatski Telekom, Transition Technologies PSC, ScoutinScience, Adecco Group, Matrix Internet, Unicorn Factory Lisboa, Digital Technology Skills and FIT. This diverse consortium integrates academic excellence, industrial expertise, and HPC capabilities to support the development of a market-driven Master’s programme in AI and HPC for sustainable mobility.
CINECA leads Work Package 3 (“Programme Development & Set Up”), and Task 3.2 on the creation of ready-to-use online learning materials. In this task, CINECA contributes to:
- researching HPC–AI convergence topics;
- identifying datasets, workflows, and tools relevant to the curriculum;
- mapping partner resources to the modules defined in WP2;
- designing templates, structures, and accessibility-compliant components for online modules;
- producing sample digital training units aligned with the programme’s pedagogical framework.
In parallel, WP3 partners are consolidating requirements for the programme’s Digital Learning Platform, including user management features, cloud-based sandbox environments for HPC/AI hands-on activities, and GDPR-compliant accessibility and security standards.
GreenShift strengthens the European digital skills ecosystem and supports startups, SMEs, universities, and municipalities in using AI and HPC to develop sustainable mobility solutions aligned with Europe’s Net Zero 2050 objectives.
