ISTAT and CINECA together to exploit BIG DATA

Cineca signed an agreement with the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) to perform joint research activities towards the identification and experimentation of methods and techniques for Big Data exploitation. The collaboration aims to study, develop and test new methodologies to collect and analyze huge volumes of data, taking advantage of the High Performance Data Analytics infrastructure provided by Cineca.

The activity will span over a period of three years, will focus on information freely available on the Internet and will develop tools and techniques to analyze and classify web sites, images and social networks content.

Expected results encompass the evaluation of the developed techniques for collecting and analyzing Big Data for the production of Official Statistics (ISTAT) and the evaluation of the HPDA platform performances in processing such high volumes of data (Cineca).
