  4. Major upgrade of Fermi

Dear Users,
with the aim of putting in place a major upgrade of Fermi, a battery of operations will start
next Tuesday, July the 16th, and will continue for 6 weeks. Such procedure will ensure, once completed, the best
performance to be attained on the platform and will fix some recurrent bugs.

The operations will affect the cluster according to the following schedule:
– July 16th in the morning: short Fermi shutdown
– July 16th up to August 20th, weekdays: Fermi in production for its 80 %; weekends: full production
– August 20th: second Fermi shutdown
– August 20th up to August 25th: Fermi unavailable for final maintenance and testing

Starting from today, until the end of the above operations, only jobs requesting a bg_size equal to 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 and 2048 will be allowed. Other sizes of jobs won’t be submitted.
Regarding to the jobs with bgsize 1024 and 2048, the torus connection will be imposed, due to geometrical
and topological reasons.

Best regards.
