Pitagora: access temporarily closed due to security vulnerability – Update

Dear users,
this is to update you on the status of the access to Pitagora, given the recent vulnerabilities disclosed. A patch addressing one of the disclosed CVEs has been successfully applied and tested. However, we are still awaiting the official fix for a second CVE. Given the severity of this vulnerability, we are unfortunately not yet in a position to safely re-open access to the cluster login nodes

As the compute nodes remain active in this period, the jobs that were in queue before the closure of the login nodes were being executed during this time. Furthermore, the scratch cleaning policy has been halted starting today, meaning that the files older than 60 days aren’t being cancelled. Unfortunately, some scratch files subject to the cleaning may have been removed before the procedure was halted.

Further updates will be provided as soon as the issue has been completely resolved.

We thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Best regards,
HPC User Support @ CINECA
