Dear Users,
To prevent the SCRATCH filesystem from reaching a critical occupancy level, we plan to activate the automatic cleaning procedure starting on October 5th. The procedure will be implemented in two phases:
Phase 1: October 5th
The automatic cleaning procedure will run daily removing files older than 60 days from the SCRATCH area.
Phase 2: November 3rd
As already implemented on the other CINECA clusters, the procedure will remove each day files older than 40 days from the SCRATCH area.
The above mentioned cleaning procedure will only affect files present on SCRATCH area. Files present in HOME, PUBLIC, WORK areas will not be affected.
All the data that you wish to conserve should be moved outside the cluster for long term archiving, or to the other capacity areas on the cluster (such as WORK).
We would like to take this opportunity to remind users that the SCRATCH area is intended for temporary data storage and must not be used for long-term data retention. Any attempt to circumvent the retention policy, including the deliberate modification of file access times, may negatively affect other users and is therefore strictly prohibited. You can find more information and details about the correct use of the different areas here.
Additional reminders will be sent during the second half of September.
For any problem, you can contact us at [email protected]
Best regards,
HPC User Support @ CINECA
