- Reminder: Leonardo: maintenance on...
Dear Users,
we remind you that Leonardo will undergo scheduled maintenance on July 15–16th 2025, which will result in service interruption as described below:
– Tuesday, July 15th – Full system shutdown. The system will be completely unavailable, including the login nodes. Only the datamover service will remain active.
– Wednesday, July 16th – Partial system availability. The system will be partially available in the afternoon, with a limited number of compute nodes. Users will be able to resume operations progressively, though with some temporary limitations on resources and queues.
During this maintenance, two important changes will be introduced:
– System update – The underlying system software will be updated (e.g., NVIDIA drivers and related components) and the Slurm scheduler will be upgraded to version 23.11. Users are encouraged to verify compatibility with their applications and environments after the update.
– New user stack in production – A new version of the software stack in module environment will be deployed and set as default. These changes had already been anticipated and described in the news published on July 1st.
PLEASE NOTE:
A reservation has been set on the entire cluster to free all nodes by 8:00 AM on July 15th. This means that only jobs short enough to finish before that time can start today.
We encourage you to submit jobs with shorter time limits, as they are more likely to be eligible to run. Also, due to the reduced overall usage, it may be easier to run jobs on a larger number of nodes during this period.
Best regards,
HPC User Support @ CINECA
