Dear users,

we are glad to announce the Fifth Edition of the Summer School on Computational Fluid Dynamics & SuperComputing, which will be held at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) in L’Aquila, Italy, from July 12 to July 17, 2026.

The School aims to introduce participants to modern concepts in Computational Fluid Dynamics, with particular emphasis on the implementation of high-fidelity numerical methodologies —such as Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS)—on massively parallel, heterogeneous supercomputing architectures (including both CPU- and GPU-based systems).

Courses will be delivered by internationally recognized experts, covering a broad range of topics including turbulent and compressible flows, multiphase flows, wind energy, machine learning for fluid dynamics, and flows involving complex geometries. The program will also feature advanced discussions on emerging computational paradigms.

Each lecture will be accompanied by hands-on tutorial sessions, making use of dedicated remote High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities. Participants will be granted free access to these resources for the duration of the School.

The School is primarily intended for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, though motivated early-stage researchers are also encouraged to apply.

The event will be held entirely in person.

This edition runs in conjunction with the International Symposium on Bifurcations and Instabilities in Fluid Mechanics (BIFD 2026), held at GSSI during the preceding week (July 6–10, 2026). Discounted registration fees for the School are available for participants attending both events.
