  4. Upgrade of $CINECA_SCRATCH storage...

Dear Users
This is to inform you that we are going to upgrade the  $CINECA_SCRATCH storage device on Galileo. Unfortunately we are not able to move all user data to the new device on your behalf in due time, so we kindly ask you to copy useful data on your own on the new device.
The first step will be a short stop of production next Monday, March 14th starting at 8.30 a.m. During the operations users will not be able to submit jobs whilst only running jobs referring to the scratch area will be aborted. All other jobs, writing/reading on other storage area ($HOME or $WORK) will not be affected. When back to production, the old scratch area will be mounted as $SCRATCH_OLD in read-only mode, whilst the new scratch area (empty) will be available as $CINECA_SCRATCH as usual.
When all operations will be complete, users should copy their old data from $SCRATCH_OLD to the new $CINECA_SCRATCH within April 14th when the old scratch area will be definitely unmounted and removed. In order to transfer your data you can follow the procedures and caveats available in our HPC portal: http://www.www.hpc.cineca.it/content/managing-data-cineca
