- DS-DRACO: A cloud framework...
Space Weather refers to the changing Sun’s physical conditions and their effects on Earth, impacting economies, due to the influence on satellite communications. Geomagnetic Storms can be mitigated through accurate forecasting protocols, ensuring safety and economic stability.
Duration in months: 12
Problem Description
DS-DRACO has partnered with EOSC-hub to access Cloud Computing resources for processing, storing, and high-availability, ensuring safe use in applications like Space Weather extreme event warning and forecasting models.
Goals
New services
Challenges
The need for a growing global detector network and the high-availability mechanisms such as system redundancies (electrical power, air conditioning) and IT infrastructure redundancies (server redundancy, processors and storage in high-availability cabins, redundant internet service, etc.).
Innovation results
The DS-DRACO pilot infrastructure stores and distributes high-resolution data from early adopters, including data from the MuTT (Muon ToF Tracker) detector and the TRISTAN detector from the ORCA Antarctic Cosmic Ray Observatory, using this platform for data distribution.
Business impact
The research-facing web portal is now online, as a hub of interoperable data for Space Weather modelers and forecasters. Future Space Weather products derived from raw data will be distributed through this platform.
