FortissimoPlus (FFplus)
FFplus is a European initiative dedicated to encouraging SMEs and start-ups across Europe to adopt High-Performance Computing (HPC) by providing both funding and support.
FFplus aims to tackle business challenges by leveraging HPC systems and supercomputing resources for developing generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to boost their innovation and competitiveness.
FFplus builds on previous Fortissimo projects (Fortissimo, Fortissimo-2, FF4EuroHPC), which helped SMEs overcome challenges by applying HPC, HPDA, or AI to optimize or create new products and processes, enhancing Europe’s industrial competitiveness.
General Notes
Throughout the project, FFplus will offer three open calls to provide support and funding to SMEs and start-ups. Each call covers two types of proposals: business experiments (Type 1) and innovation studies (Type 2).
- Type 1- Business experiments are designed for SMEs with no previous experience in HPC, aiming to address specific business challenges by adopting HPC resources for the first time.
- Type 2 – Innovation studies focus on SMEs and start-ups that are already active in generative AI but lack the computational resources to scale their operations.
The first open call was held during the summer of 2024, with the second and third calls scheduled for the summer of 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Cineca, as one of the FFplus partners, provides support and expertise to selected applicants, enabling them to carry out their projects and ultimately demonstrate the transformative potential of HPC and AI across various industrial sectors in Europe.
