ORCHESTRA

CONNECTING EUROPEAN COHORTS TO INCREASE COMMON AND EFFECTIVE RESPONSE TO SARS-COV-2 PANDEMIC

image

ORCHESTRA is a three-year international research project aimed at tackling the coronavirus pandemic, led by the University of Verona and involving 26 partners (extending to a wider network of 37 partners) from 15 countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Congo, France, Gabon, Germany, India, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Venezuela.
The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the ERAvsCORONA Action Plan which was developed jointly by Commission services and national authorities.

General notes

The project uses innovative techniques in microbiology, genomics, statistics (artificial intelligence and mathematical models) and platforms for data collection among European countries.

Cineca is the coordinator of WP7 “Data Management.” Together with the other 2 European HPC centers (Cines for France and HLRS for Germany), it is responsible for the design and implementation of the platform that collects data from the various cohorts involved, taking into consideration data size, security, privacy.

To this end, CINECA has implemented a centralized platform to collect sensitive personal data in the Italian National Hub (NH) in compliance with GDPR and Italian regulations. Clinical data and outcomes of serological and microbiological analyses are collected using a dedicated instance of REDCap provided in the infrastructure itself. Data collection is performed using pseudonymized codes.

The hosted data come from the centers that have appointed CINECA as the data controller under individual agreements.

In addition to the necessary security measures, a Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) is performed periodically to ensure that the required level of security is met.
